Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows an inky purple core that hints at its depth and intensity. The nose is lavish and layered, offering mocha, dark chocolate, blackberry, and cassis, all framed by a sense of ripe, opulent fruit. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and richly textured, with a viscous, mouth-filling presence and significant natural power. Its structure is broad and generous, yet beneath the richness there is clear terroir expression waiting to emerge with time. This is a wine built for the long haul and will continue to evolve gracefully for decades, with the 2009 vintage likely to reward extended cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
Château Troplong Mondot sits on one of the larger estates in Saint-Émilion, occupying 43 hectares on the hillside above the village. The vineyard is planted mainly to Merlot, with smaller parcels of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, and the estate has increasingly focused on biodiversity and sustainable practices, including organically farmed parcels and horse ploughing in some areas. In the cellar, modern techniques such as optical sorting and micro-fermentation in 600-liter barrels are used to refine blending choices and preserve detail in the final wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with equally rich dishes such as entrecôte, roast lamb, beef tenderloin, game birds, or truffle-infused mushroom dishes. Hard cheeses and slow-cooked meat dishes also work beautifully with its depth and concentration. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for several hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open and soften.

Château Troplong Mondot has roots dating back to 1745, when the château was built on the hill overlooking Saint-Émilion. The estate became a true modern success story under the Valette family, especially Christine Valette and Xavier Pariente, who invested heavily and helped elevate it to the top tier of the appellation. Their efforts were rewarded with promotion to Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the 2006 Saint-Émilion classification, a status the château has retained through subsequent revisions, cementing its reputation as one of Bordeaux’s most celebrated Right Bank estates.
