Château Troplong Mondot 2014 Magnum is a richly expressive Saint-Émilion from one of the Right Bank’s most prestigious estates. Sourced from a large, historic 43-hectare property perched above the village, it combines depth, precision, and the generosity that has made Troplong Mondot one of Bordeaux’s great success stories.

The 2014 vintage typically shows a deep garnet color with plenty of youthful intensity, especially in magnum format, where the wine evolves more slowly and gracefully. On the nose, expect ripe black cherries, plum, cassis, and dark berries, layered with violet, cedar, spice, and subtle earthy notes. On the palate, the wine is usually full-bodied and velvety, with Merlot bringing plush fruit and Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon adding lift, structure, and freshness. Tannins are fine but firm, supporting a long, polished finish with good aging potential; the magnum format should allow the wine to develop beautifully over many years.

Château Troplong Mondot’s vineyards sit on one of Saint-Émilion’s prime hillsides, where the elevated position and varied soils help produce concentrated, balanced fruit. The estate focuses increasingly on biodiversity and sustainable vineyard work, with some organically farmed parcels, horse ploughing in the vines, and careful harvesting to ensure optimal ripeness. In the cellar, an optical sorting system is used, and a portion of the harvest undergoes micro-fermentation in 600-liter barrels to refine the final blend and enhance precision.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and rich game preparations, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, especially to let the magnum open up and show its full aromatic breadth.
