Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge 2010

Claude Dugat Bourgogne Rouge 2010 is a striking example of how much depth and character a great producer can bring to even an entry-level Burgundy. Sourced from small parcels just outside Gevrey-Chambertin, it reflects the cool, limestone-rich terroir of the Côte de Nuits and the finesse of a very well-balanced vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it typically shows a bright ruby hue with the clarity and vibrancy expected from fine Pinot Noir. The nose is expressive and refined, with aromas of red berries, especially raspberry and cherry, lifted by hints of violet, herbs, and a subtle earthy spice. The palate is fresh and supple, combining juicy red fruit with fine tannins and a precise mineral edge that gives the wine shape and length. 2010 lends the wine impressive balance and definition, and while it is already enjoyable for its energy and purity, it also has the structure to develop gracefully with a few more years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from small plots near Gevrey-Chambertin, where the cool climate and chalky limestone soils help preserve freshness and deliver classic Burgundy tension. The fruit is harvested by hand with strict sorting, then fermented naturally with indigenous yeasts to preserve the vineyard’s character. The wine is aged for around a year in French oak barrels, with only a small proportion of new wood, so the focus remains on purity, elegance, and terroir expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent partner for roast poultry, duck breast, mushroom dishes, game birds, and lighter cuts of lamb, as well as mushroom risotto or aged semi-hard cheeses. Serve at 15–17°C, and if opening young, decanting for 30–45 minutes can help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
