Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin 2006 is a beautiful example of why this small, highly respected domaine is so admired among Burgundy lovers. Sourced from carefully selected parcels around Gevrey-Chambertin, it combines the appellation’s natural depth and structure with Claude Dugat’s precise, low-intervention winemaking style. In a vintage that brought ripe fruit and fine tannins, the wine shows both classical restraint and impressive harmony.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Gevrey-Chambertin shows a ruby-red hue with inviting brightness and maturity. The nose opens with ripe cherries, forest floor, dried herbs, and a subtle layer of spice, gradually revealing more earthy and mineral nuances with air.
On the palate, it is silky and balanced, with layers of red fruit, delicate tannins, and a fresh mineral line that keeps the wine focused and long. The finish is persistent, echoing cherry, earth, and a gentle touch of oak spice. Well-developed already, it still has the structure to continue aging gracefully for a few more years.
Viininvalmistus
The vineyards lie on the limestone-rich, well-drained soils of Gevrey-Chambertin, where Pinot Noir naturally gains firmness, precision, and aromatic complexity. The grapes are harvested by hand with rigorous selection, ensuring only the best fruit reaches the cellar. Vinification follows a traditional, low-intervention approach, with fermentation in open wooden vats using native yeasts, followed by maturation in French oak barrels, only a small proportion of which are new, to preserve the purity of the fruit and terroir expression.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs beautifully with roast duck, braised beef, game birds, mushroom dishes, and aged cheeses. Serve it slightly below room temperature, ideally around 16-18°C. Decanting for 1-2 hours is recommended if opened now, especially to allow the aromas to fully unfold.
