Cliff Lede Napa Valley Claret 2019

Cliff Lede Napa Valley Claret 2019 is a polished Bordeaux-style blend from one of Napa Valley’s most respected modern producers. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the way, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc, bringing depth, structure, and a distinctly elegant Napa signature to the glass.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Claret shows a deep, concentrated dark ruby to purple hue. The bouquet is rich and layered, with notes of figs, black cherry, blackberry, cocoa powder, and espresso, unfolding into a more savory complexity with time in the glass. On the palate, it delivers creme de cassis, ripe dark plum, chocolate, cinnamon, and a subtle thread of French oak, all wrapped in supple tannins and a refined, balanced texture. The wine already offers impressive harmony, but it should also develop beautifully over the coming years, gaining further nuance and softness with cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes are sourced primarily from Cliff Lede’s Twin Peaks Vineyard, with additional fruit coming from carefully selected Napa Valley grower partners. The region’s warm days and cooler evening influences help create ripe fruit with freshness and structure, ideal for a Bordeaux-inspired blend. After harvest, the wine was matured for 21 months in French oak, contributing spice, polish, and complexity to the final blend.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or hearty mushroom dishes. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully open.
