Clos du Mont-Olivet Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Cuvée du Papet 2010 is a powerful, highly regarded expression of one of the Rhône Valley’s most iconic appellations. Built around old-vine Grenache from some of the estate’s most celebrated parcels, it combines depth, precision, and a distinctly Provençal character that has made this cuvée a benchmark for the estate.

In the glass, the wine shows an extraordinarily deep plum-purple colour, hinting at its concentration and structure. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with aromas of balsam wood, raspberries, blackcurrants, lavender, garrigue, kirsch, licorice, and earthy underbrush, evoking the classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape profile in a very vivid way.
On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, delivering impressive power without losing focus. The Grenache-led core gives generosity and warmth, while Mourvèdre and Syrah add depth, spice, and grip. This is a wine with excellent aging potential: approachable now, but expected to develop beautifully over the next several years and continue evolving for two decades or more.
Viininvalmistus
The grapes for La Cuvée du Papet come from Clos du Mont-Olivet’s oldest vines, aged between 50 and 105 years, planted in the renowned Mont Olivet and Bois Dauphin sites. The estate’s vineyards are spread across Châteauneuf-du-Pape, where a mix of soils contributes to the wine’s complexity and layered structure. The 2010 blend is composed of 75% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, and 10% Syrah, and it was matured in large foudres to preserve purity, balance, and the character of the fruit.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for richly flavoured dishes such as roast lamb, beef short ribs, game, duck confit, or slow-cooked Provençal stews with herbs and olives. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and earthy mushroom-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for several hours is recommended if opening young, as it will help reveal the wine’s full aromatic range and soften its structure.

Clos du Mont-Olivet is a historic family estate in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, founded in 1932 by Séraphin Sabon and Marie Jausset, though the family’s winemaking roots in the region go back further. One of the early producers to estate-bottle its wines, the domaine has long been associated with quality and tradition in the appellation. Today, the Sabon family continues to guide the estate, with production centred in the heart of Châteauneuf-du-Pape and supported by vineyards that reflect the region’s diverse soils and heritage.
