In the glass, Clos l’Eglise 2020 shows a deep, dark ruby colour that hints at its concentration and ripeness. The bouquet is layered and expressive, opening with crushed black cherry, cassis, and blackcurrant before unfolding into notes of warm nuts, chocolate, graphite, liquorice, crushed stone, wild flowers, and rose. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and densely fruited, yet carried by exceptionally fine tannins that give it a graceful, almost weightless flow. The structure is firm and harmonious, with a polished texture, bright freshness, and a distinctly mineral, saline edge. Layers of dark fruit, bitter cocoa, subtle toast, and spicy complexity build toward a very long, vibrant finish. This is a wine with excellent ageing potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over many years.
