Clos Saint-Jean Deus Ex Machina 2010 is a powerful, highly expressive Châteauneuf-du-Pape built from old Grenache vines and supported by Mourvèdre and Syrah. Sourced from the warm, stony parcels around La Crau, it combines ripe fruit intensity with structure, depth, and a distinctly mineral edge. A wine of serious pedigree, it reflects both the generosity of the southern Rhône and the precision of a carefully composed cuvée.

In the glass, the 2010 vintage shows a deep, dark colour that hints at its concentration and energy. The nose is layered with sun-ripened dark berries, licorice, Provençal herbs, and a marked mineral core, while Mourvèdre brings subtle gamey and earthy nuances that add complexity. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and imposing, yet balanced by firm, ripe tannins and impressive freshness. The fruit is dense and expansive, with a long, powerful finish that lingers with spice and savoury detail. Still youthful in expression, this vintage has considerable aging potential and should continue to evolve beautifully over many years.

Viininvalmistus
Deus Ex Machina comes from old Grenache vines rooted in the warm, pebbly soils around La Crau, complemented by Mourvèdre grown on deeper, cooler soils that lend structure and length. Grenache is vinified in concrete to preserve purity and vivid fruit, while Mourvèdre is extracted more firmly and partly matured in oak. The final wine is blended and aged in a combination of stainless steel and larger barrels, allowing its natural power to be polished without excessive wood influence.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for richly flavoured dishes such as lamb, game, slow-braised beef, duck confit, or herb-crusted roast meats. It also pairs beautifully with mature hard cheeses and dishes featuring Mediterranean herbs, garlic, and roasted vegetables. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours to let the wine unfold and soften its tannins.
