Clos Saint-Jean Sanctus Sanctorum Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2009 Magnum

Clos Saint-Jean Sanctus Sanctorum 2009 is a rare and highly sought-after Châteauneuf-du-Pape made exclusively from exceptionally old Grenache vines on the stoniest, warmest parcels of La Crau. Produced only in vintages with outstanding concentration, it represents one of the estate’s most profound expressions of pure Grenache and a modern benchmark for power, finesse, and depth.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows an intense, deep ruby-garnet hue that hints at its generosity and concentration. The nose is vivid and layered, with aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, licorice, warm spice, and a distinct stony mineral note that reflects La Crau’s galet-strewn soils. The palate is rich, creamy, and impressively full-bodied, yet lifted by a fresh core that keeps the wine balanced and dynamic. Mature, silky tannins frame a long, complex finish of dark fruit, spice, and earth. While already beautifully developed, this vintage still has significant aging potential ahead.

Viininvalmistus
Sanctus Sanctorum comes from extremely old Grenache vines planted on La Crau, one of the most heat-retaining and mineral-rich sectors of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The grapes are hand-selected in very small quantities, with traditional vinification in concrete to preserve purity and intensity, followed by aging mainly in large neutral casks so the pristine Grenache character remains at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a natural match for rich, flavorful dishes such as slow-roasted lamb, beef daube, game, or truffle-infused recipes, as well as mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended to allow the wine’s depth and aromatic complexity to fully open.
