Colgin Cariad 2012

Colgin Cariad 2012 is one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after Bordeaux-style blends, sourced from the legendary vineyards of David Abreu and crafted with remarkable precision by winemaker Allison Tauziet. Named after the Welsh word for “love,” Cariad lives up to its name with depth, elegance, and a level of refinement that places it firmly among the world’s great Cabernet-based wines.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep garnet-purple core that hints at both power and maturity. The nose is intensely layered, opening with blackcurrant, blackberry, cocoa, tar, licorice, floral notes, and a distinctive pencil lead character. The palate is full-bodied and beautifully composed, combining generous dark fruit with impressive structure and seamlessly integrated tannins. Rich, polished, and long on the finish, it already offers enormous pleasure, yet its balance and concentration suggest exceptional aging potential for the next 25 to 30 years.

Viininvalmistus
Cariad is produced from fruit grown in Napa Valley, primarily from David Abreu’s prized estate vineyards, where the combination of mineral-rich volcanic soils, generous sunshine, and cooling influences creates ideal conditions for Bordeaux varieties. The wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, fermented and then matured for two years in 100% new French oak, giving it structure, complexity, and a refined oak frame.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs naturally with premium dishes such as dry-aged beef, lamb, venison, truffle-infused sauces, and slow-braised short ribs. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow its aromas and textures to fully open.
