Colgin IX Estate Red 2018 is one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after luxury wines, a benchmark Bordeaux-style blend from the famed Pritchard Hill estate. Built on Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, it combines immense power with remarkable finesse, and has already earned top scores from the world’s leading critics. In the context of Napa history, it stands as a modern icon from one of the region’s most revered cult producers.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a deep garnet-purple color that hints at its concentration and intensity. The bouquet is layered and seductive, unfolding with blackcurrant, blackberry, smoked meat, dark chocolate, dried Provençal herbs, lavender, cigar box, and a subtle mineral edge that adds depth and complexity. On the palate, it is full-bodied, structured, and richly textured, yet carried by impressive freshness and roundness. The tannins are firm but polished, and the finish is long, savory, and resonant. While already impressive in its youth, this is a wine built for the cellar and should continue to evolve beautifully over the next 25–30 years, with even greater complexity after several years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The IX Estate vineyard sits high in the hills of Pritchard Hill in Napa Valley, overlooking Hennessey Reservoir, where elevation, exposure, and a moderate 2018 growing season helped produce fruit of exceptional balance and ripeness. Winemaker Allison Tauziet followed classic winemaking methods, carefully managing the vineyard through the season and harvesting in multiple passes to bring in the grapes at optimal maturity. After fermentation, the wine was matured for more than two years in 100% new oak barrels before bottling, giving it added structure, depth, and aromatic complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for equally serious food, pairing beautifully with dry-aged ribeye, lamb loin, venison, slow-braised short ribs, or truffle-rich dishes. Its depth also works well with hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 2–3 hours if drinking young; with more bottle age, a gentler decant is recommended.
