Dalle Valle Maya 2019

Dalle Valle Maya 2019 is one of Napa Valley’s most sought-after Cabernet-based wines, produced in tiny quantities and crafted from the estate’s finest hillside parcels. Blending Cabernet Sauvignon with Cabernet Franc, it captures the hallmark intensity, mineral drive, and precision that have made Maya an icon among collectors. First introduced as a special expression of the estate, it has since earned legendary status with repeated perfect scores from leading critics.

Makuprofiili
Deep garnet-purple in the glass, this wine opens with a vivid and layered bouquet of redcurrant preserves, kirsch, boysenberry, wild blueberry, and blackcurrant, lifted by notes of red roses, tobacco, cardamom, pencil shavings, crushed rock, and iron ore. With air, it becomes even more floral and complex, revealing remarkable depth and aromatic detail. On the palate, the 2019 Maya is full-bodied yet exceptionally graceful, combining concentrated dark fruit with bright mineral energy, fine-grained tannins, and a long, refined finish. It has the structure to age beautifully for decades, with Jeb Dunnuck noting that it will be enjoyable well beyond 5–7 years and likely continue developing for many years after that.

Viininvalmistus
Maya is sourced from the estate vineyard’s eastern foothills in Napa Valley, below Pritchard Hill and above the Oakville floor, where iron-rich soils lend the wine its distinctive mineral edge and structural depth. The fruit is hand-harvested from the best plots and vinified with meticulous care, with Cabernet Sauvignon as the core component and Cabernet Franc adding fragrance, precision, and lift. Production is extremely limited, with only around 500 cases made annually.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine made for richly flavored dishes such as prime rib, dry-aged steak, lamb chops, venison, or truffle-infused mushroom dishes. It also pairs beautifully with hard aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and tannins to fully open.
