Domaine AF Gros Richebourg 2018 Magnum

Domaine A.F. Gros Richebourg 2018 Magnum is a rare and highly coveted Grand Cru from one of Burgundy’s most legendary sites for Pinot Noir. With fewer than 200 cases produced annually from just 0.6 hectares, it combines extraordinary concentration, elegance, and depth in a format that promises even greater development over time. Richebourg has long been regarded as one of the great names of Burgundy, and this bottling reflects why.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a deep, vivid colour in the glass, hinting at the richness beneath its poised exterior. Aromatically, it opens with generous blackberry, raspberry, and cranberry notes, layered with crushed stone, wild hedgerow character, and a subtle touch of spice. On the palate, it is medium-bodied yet intensely structured, with crisp, firm tannins and beautifully integrated new oak. Fresh black pepper, savory nuances, and a long, persistent finish give it remarkable presence and precision. While already expressive, this is a wine built for patience and should age gracefully for many years, gaining complexity and finesse with time.

Viininvalmistus
Sourced from the prestigious Richebourg Grand Cru in Vosne-Romanée, the vineyard sits in one of Burgundy’s most revered terroirs for fine Pinot Noir, where limestone-rich soils and an ideal exposure help produce wines of power, perfume, and remarkable detail. Domaine A.F. Gros farms a tiny 0.6-hectare holding here, resulting in extremely limited production. The grapes are harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on preserving purity, freshness, and site expression, with oak used judiciously to support rather than dominate the wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with refined dishes such as roast pigeon, duck breast, venison, or mushroom risotto, as well as truffled poultry and rich game preparations. Serve at 16–18°C for the best balance of aroma and texture. Decanting is recommended if drinking young, ideally 1–2 hours, to allow the wine to open fully and show its layered complexity.

Together with François Parent, and later with their children Mathias and Caroline taking the lead, the estate has built an international reputation for producing Pinot Noir of exceptional elegance, depth, and precision. Today, the domaine is widely recognized for wines that sit firmly in the top tier of Burgundy.
