Domaine Chanzy Mercurey Le Bois Cassien Monopole Blanc 2021 is an elegant Burgundy Chardonnay that delivers impressive character and value from one of the more underrated corners of the region. With its limestone-and-marl-driven freshness, distinctive monopole site, and careful élevage in French oak followed by stainless steel, it offers a refined, mineral style that feels both classic and approachable.

Makuprofiili
The wine shows a pale golden color with green reflections, hinting at its youthful energy and vibrancy. Aromatically, it opens with citrus, hazelnuts, cinnamon, pepper, sea buckthorn, and delicate acacia blossom, giving it a layered and expressive profile. On the palate, the fruit comes forward cleanly and confidently, supported by a fine mineral backbone that becomes more pronounced toward the finish. It has a lovely sense of depth without losing freshness, and while enjoyable now, it should also reward a few years in bottle as the texture gains even more complexity.

Viininvalmistus
Le Bois Cassien is a monopole vineyard in Mercurey, where the soils are rich in limestone and marl, helping shape the wine’s firm structure and mineral edge. Chanzy works its vineyards without herbicides or pesticides, instead using organic manure and occasional ploughing between the rows. Winemaking under cellar master Max Blondelle follows a traditional Burgundian approach, with maturation first in French oak barrels and then in stainless steel to preserve precision and purity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, cream-based poultry dishes, veal, seafood, lobster, or mushroom risotto, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve it chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, and there is generally no need to decant unless you want to give it a little air to open up in the glass.
