Domaine Chanzy Vosne-Romanée La Croix Blanche 2023 is a poised Burgundy Pinot Noir from one of the most admired villages in the Côte de Nuits. Sourced from a site just south of Vosne-Romanée, it combines refined red-fruit character with subtle oak spice, offering a structured yet graceful expression of the vintage.

In the glass, this wine shows a notably deep colour for a Burgundy Pinot Noir, hinting at both concentration and careful extraction. The nose opens with juicy red berries, layered with gentle spice from the barrel ageing and a distinctly inviting, fresh-fruited character. On the palate, it is structured and expressive, balancing ripe fruit with fine tannins and a polished, elegant frame. The oak is present but well integrated, adding nuance rather than weight. With a little patience, the wine should evolve beautifully over the coming years, gaining complexity, softness and greater aromatic depth.

Viininvalmistus
La Croix Blanche lies just south of Vosne-Romanée, and its name comes from the white stone cross marking the dividing point between the vineyards. The Pinot Noir grapes undergo around 10 days of maceration before alcoholic fermentation, which takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to preserve aroma and extract colour while avoiding harsh tannins. The wine is then aged for 10 months in oak barrels, 30% of which are new, before spending a further five months in tank to harmonise prior to bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with duck breast, roast chicken, veal, mushroom dishes and other classic Burgundy-style cuisine, as well as soft-ripened cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C. Decanting for about 30 minutes is recommended if enjoying it young, especially to let the aromas open up and the structure settle.
