Domaine Charvin Chateauneuf du Pape 2014

Domaine Charvin Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2014 is a beautifully restrained expression of Grenache from one of the appellation’s most respected traditional producers. Known for its freshness, elegance, and perfume, it stands out for its old vines, low yields, and a hands-off approach that lets the character of the southern Rhône shine through.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine typically shows a bright, deep ruby color with good clarity. The nose is highly aromatic, offering notes of red cherry, raspberry, wild herbs, spice, and delicate floral tones, with a subtle earthy edge. On the palate, it is refined and beautifully balanced, with juicy Grenache fruit, silky tannins, and a fresh, lifted finish that gives the wine real charm and precision. While approachable with some bottle age, the structure and concentration suggest it can continue to evolve gracefully over the coming years. Its elegance and freshness are part of what make it so appealing now, but it still has the depth to reward further cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
The vines are planted on sandy, north-facing slopes in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, a terroir that helps preserve freshness and aromatic finesse in the fruit. The blend is dominated by Grenache, with small proportions of Vaccarèse and Mourvèdre from northern parcels. Grapes are hand-harvested, and vinification is kept as natural and low-intervention as possible, with aging in stainless steel to preserve purity and avoid overt oak influence.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs especially well with roast lamb, duck, game birds, grilled Mediterranean vegetables, and herb-driven dishes such as ratatouille or rosemary potatoes. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and while decanting is not strictly necessary, a short decant can help open up its perfume and soften the wine if it is drunk young.
