Domaine Clos Frantin Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru 2018 is a finely crafted Burgundy that captures the essence of one of the Côte de Nuits’ most iconic Grand Cru vineyards. Sourced from a particularly privileged plot that bridges the lower and upper parts of Clos de Vougeot, it combines the generosity of ripe fruit with the firm structure and precision that give this historic site its legendary reputation.

In the glass, this Pinot Noir shows the depth and concentration expected from a Grand Cru Burgundy, with a vivid, polished appearance. The nose opens with a broad aromatic range of wild red and black berries, supported by subtle earthy notes and, with time, evolving toward hints of light tobacco and tea. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and layered, with a robust yet refined structure and tannins that are firm but well-polished. There is impressive depth here, along with a touch of smoke, walnut and wild herbs, while the finish is long and age-worthy. This is a wine built to develop beautifully over time, gaining complexity and softness with bottle age.

Viininvalmistus
Clos de Vougeot is a highly distinctive terroir, and Domaine Clos Frantin benefits from a vineyard position that links both the upper and lower sections of the appellation, allowing for a rare balance of fruit expression and structure. The domaine works organically, replacing herbicides and artificial fertilizers with compost and ploughing, while strict pruning keeps yields low and quality high. The wine is vinified with minimal intervention and moved by gravity into the cellar, where it is matured in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, using carefully selected barrels from different forests and toast levels to add discreet complexity without overpowering the wine.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Grand Cru Pinot Noir is an excellent match for refined dishes such as roast duck, game birds, lamb, beef tenderloin, mushroom-based dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C to best appreciate its aromatic depth and structure. Decanting is recommended when young, especially to soften the tannins and allow the wine’s layers to open more fully.
