Domaine Clos Frantin Echezeaux Grand Cru 2019 is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s most coveted Grand Cru sites, bringing together elegance, precision, and depth. Sourced from the small parcel of Les Champs Traversins, it stands out for its sandy, gravelly soils, steep slope, and proximity to the Orveau valley, all of which help shape a Pinot Noir of striking character and finesse.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Echézeaux shows the graceful intensity typical of great Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir, with a lifted, polished profile rather than sheer power. The bouquet opens with raspberry, wild strawberry, and other red summer fruits, layered with spicy nuances, forest floor, and subtle floral notes.
On the palate it is medium-bodied, round, and beautifully balanced, with fine-boned tannins, crisp acidity, and discreet oak framing the fruit rather than dominating it. The finish is remarkably long, closing on a hint of dark chocolate and spice. This is a wine with excellent aging potential and should continue to evolve gracefully for 15–20 years, or even longer in a well-kept cellar.
Viininvalmistus
This Grand Cru comes from the lieu-dit Les Champs Traversins in Echézeaux, where sandy and gravelly soils, combined with a steep incline and the cooling influence of the Orveau valley, create ideal conditions for elegant, expressive Pinot Noir. Domaine du Clos-Frantin works with organic-certified vineyards, using compost and plowing instead of artificial fertilizers and herbicides, along with strict pruning to keep yields low and fruit quality high. In the cellar, the grapes are vinified with a minimal-intervention philosophy, then aged for 12 to 18 months in oak barrels selected from different forests and toast levels to add subtle complexity while preserving terroir expression.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Grand Cru pairs beautifully with dishes that complement its finesse and layered fruit, such as roasted duck, guinea fowl, veal tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or game birds with earthy sauces. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30 to 60 minutes if drinking young to allow the aromatics and structure to open fully.
