Domaine de la Roche Aiguë Saint-Romain Rouge 2022 is a beautifully refined Burgundy Pinot Noir that shows how much character Saint-Romain can offer beyond its better-known whites. Sourced from the domaine’s own parcel and made with a light-touch approach, it combines finesse, bright fruit, and a distinctly elegant style rooted in the region’s tradition.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows an intense ruby-red colour that signals its lively, fruit-driven profile. The nose opens with red cherries, raspberries, dark plums, cranberries, and a subtle earthy note of forest floor. On the palate, the wine echoes those red berry aromas with juicy freshness and a layered, nuanced texture. The tannins are soft and well integrated, giving the wine a graceful, polished feel. It is enjoyable now, but it also has clear potential to develop more complexity with a few more years in bottle.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from the domaine’s own parcel in Saint-Romain, where the vineyard is farmed with minimal intervention to preserve purity and balance. Harvesting and sorting are done by hand, followed by pressing and fermentation. The wine is then matured mainly in previously used barrels, allowing the oak to support the wine without overpowering its delicate Pinot Noir expression.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Noir pairs well with roast poultry, duck, mushroom dishes, game birds, and lighter cuts of veal or pork. It also works nicely with earthy vegetarian dishes and semi-soft cheeses. Serve slightly chilled at around 15-17°C, and decanting is optional but can be helpful for letting the wine open up if enjoyed young.
