Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 2014 is one of the most coveted expressions of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, crafted by the estate often regarded as the crown jewel of the region. Sourced from a singular Grand Cru site in Vosne-Romanée, it combines remarkable purity, precision, and depth with the unmistakable finesse that has made DRC legendary among collectors. La Tâche has long held an almost mythical status, and the 2014 vintage captures that prestige with striking elegance and energy.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, La Tâche 2014 shows a refined, luminous ruby tone with subtle depth at the core. The nose is exceptionally pure and finely etched, opening with red cherry, wild strawberry, rose petal, and delicate spice, gradually shifting toward darker berry tones, crushed stone, and a distinctly mineral edge.
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, symmetrical, and beautifully composed, with silky tannins and vivid freshness lending definition to the rich fruit. There is a cool, precise character to the finish, where the fruit persists with remarkable length and a graceful, almost animated tension. This is a wine built for the long haul and should continue to evolve beautifully over decades.
Viininvalmistus
La Tâche comes from a historic Grand Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, one of Burgundy’s most revered terroirs, where clay-limestone soils and an exceptional microclimate help produce Pinot Noir of extraordinary detail and intensity. The vineyard is farmed with meticulous care, using hand harvesting and extremely selective sorting to ensure only the healthiest fruit reaches the cellar.
Vinification is kept traditional and minimally interventionist, with native fermentations, gentle handling, and aging in new French oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months. The goal is to preserve the vineyard’s voice rather than mask it, allowing the wine’s precision, minerality, and layered perfume to emerge with clarity.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine to pair with refined dishes that can complement its complexity without overwhelming it, such as roast pigeon, duck breast, veal tenderloin, or game birds with earthy mushroom sauces. It also works beautifully with truffled dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 to 2 hours if drinking young, though older vintages may benefit from only a gentle splash decant.
