Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-Conti 2014 is one of Burgundy’s most coveted Pinot Noirs, produced from a Grand Cru site that has long been regarded as the crown jewel of Vosne-Romanée. The 2014 vintage shows the house’s signature combination of precision, restraint, and profound detail, with the kind of rarity and pedigree that has made Romanée-Conti a benchmark for fine wine around the world. First documented as early as the 13th century, this legendary vineyard carries a remarkable history that adds to its mystique.

In the glass, the wine is poised and refined rather than overtly expressive, with a polished transparency that hints at its Grand Cru origin. The nose unfolds धीरे and elegantly, revealing mineral-driven red fruit, subtle tertiary nuances, and an understated floral lift that becomes more complex with air. On the palate, it is medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, with supple tannins, perfectly judged acidity, and a linear, focused structure. The finish has volume and grip, even if the wine is more discreet than some of the domaine’s more expansive cuvées. This is a wine built for patience, with excellent aging potential and the promise of greater aromatic depth over time.

Romanée-Conti comes from one of the most revered Grand Cru vineyards in Burgundy, situated in Vosne-Romanée on exceptional limestone-rich soils that contribute to the wine’s tension, finesse, and mineral character. The domaine farms its vineyards organically, with biodynamic principles increasingly incorporated, and harvests entirely by hand with rigorous sorting both in the vineyard and at the winery. Vinification is kept traditional and as non-interventionist as possible, with spontaneous fermentation in old wooden vats, gentle handling, and maturation in new oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for the table, but it deserves dishes that are just as refined as its style. It pairs beautifully with classic Burgundy fare such as roast duck, pigeon, quail, veal, or game birds, as well as more delicate mushroom-based dishes and truffled preparations. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting briefly if the wine is very young, though older bottles are often best enjoyed with only minimal aeration.
