The 2009 vintage shows a deep, luminous ruby color and an immediately captivating aromatic profile. On the nose, it opens with intense ripe raspberry, crème de cassis, maraschino cherry, and subtle hints of warm spice and floral complexity, all wrapped in the seamless richness that marks a great Romanée-St.-Vivant. On the palate, it is fuller and more generous than many expect from this site, yet still finely structured, with succulent tannins, vivid acidity, and a beautifully layered, almost decadent finish. There is real concentration here, balanced by elegance and freshness, and it has the depth to evolve gracefully for many years in bottle.

Romanée-St.-Vivant is a historic Grand Cru vineyard in Vosne-Romanée, where the limestone and clay-rich soils help produce Pinot Noir of striking finesse and aromatic complexity. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti farms its parcels with meticulous care, using hand harvesting, strict sorting, and a philosophy of minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve purity and terroir expression. Fermentation takes place in traditional wooden vats, followed by aging in new oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months.

Serve this wine with refined dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, veal tenderloin, game birds, or mushroom-based preparations like wild mushroom risotto or truffle pasta. It is best enjoyed at around 16–18°C, and decanting for about 1 to 2 hours is recommended to allow the wine to fully unfurl and show its complexity.
