Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Romanée-St-Vivant 2016 is one of Burgundy’s most coveted expressions of Pinot Noir, combining rare Grand Cru pedigree with a style of remarkable finesse and depth. Sourced from one of the domaine’s most celebrated holdings in Vosne-Romanée, it captures the house signature of intensity without weight, alongside the perfume, purity, and precision that have made DRC legendary. The Romanée-St-Vivant vineyard itself has deep historical roots, once tended by the monks of Saint-Vivant and long associated with the highest traditions of Burgundian winemaking.

The 2016 vintage shows a brilliant, lifted character in the glass, with a vibrant, translucent ruby hue typical of great Pinot Noir. The nose is highly aromatic and layered, opening with potpourri, rose petal, peony, red berries, and cassis, before unfolding into darker floral and spice nuances.
On the palate, it is full-bodied yet exceptionally refined, with tangy acidity, superb concentration, and powdery tannins that frame the wine without overpowering it. The finish is long, fragrant, and precise, leaving a lasting impression of elegance and complexity. Viininvalmistus
Romanée-St-Vivant lies in the heart of Vosne-Romanée in Burgundy, where some of the region’s finest Grand Cru sites are shaped by well-drained soils and a cool climate ideal for Pinot Noir. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti works these vineyards with meticulous care, using hand harvesting and extremely strict sorting to ensure only the best fruit reaches the cellar. The domaine follows organic principles and incorporates biodynamic ideas, while keeping intervention in the winery deliberately minimal to preserve terroir expression. Fermentation takes place in traditional wooden vats, followed by aging in new French oak barrels for around 16 to 18 months.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine best paired with refined dishes that complement its perfume and texture, such as duck breast, roast pigeon, quail, veal, or mushroom-based dishes with truffle accents. It also shines with delicate game and hard-aged cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for a short period if opened young, though great care should be taken to preserve its aromatic detail.
