Domaine des Terres de Velle Meursault Premier Cru Les Charmes Blanc 2019 Magnum is a rare and highly expressive Burgundy from a tiny 0.1644-hectare parcel in the lower part of Les Charmes, one of Meursault’s most celebrated premier cru sites. Produced in just 300 magnums from old vines planted in 1936, it combines depth, precision, and remarkable complexity in a style that reflects both exceptional terroir and meticulous craftsmanship.

In the glass, this Chardonnay shows the generous, luminous character expected of fine white Burgundy, with an attractive golden hue. The nose opens with layered stone fruit aromas of peach and apricot, lifted by subtle smoky oak, fine mineral notes, and a hint of spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet beautifully poised, with ripe fruit richness balanced by refreshing acidity and a long, saline finish. The old vines bring extra depth and harmony, while the oak adds gentle structure rather than overt weight. This is a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to develop even more complexity over the coming years, gaining nutty, honeyed, and tertiary nuances with bottle age.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from a very small parcel in the lower section of Les Charmes, a site known for producing the deepest and most layered wines in Meursault. The old Chardonnay vines, planted in 1936, contribute concentration and balance, while the tiny scale of production allows for extremely careful vineyard work and selection. The fruit is hand-harvested, and both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in oak barrels. The wine then matures in barrel for up to 18 months before being bottled unfiltered, preserving texture, aroma, and natural complexity.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Meursault Premier Cru is an excellent match for premium fish dishes, especially those served with a rich sauce, such as turbot, monkfish, or sole meunière. It also pairs well with lobster, scallops, poultry in cream sauce, or fine mushroom dishes. Serve slightly chilled, ideally around 12-14°C, and decanting is recommended if opening young to help the wine раскры its full aromatic range and texture.
