Domaine Duchemin Maranges 1er Cru Clos de la Fussière 2022 is a Pinot Noir that shows just how compelling the southern edge of the Côte de Beaune can be. Made from old vines rooted in limestone-rich soils, it combines mineral drive, ripe fruit and a pleasing sense of structure, with the added depth that comes from Premier Cru terroir and careful, hands-off winemaking.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this is a beautiful ruby-red wine with a bright, inviting sheen. The nose opens with fresh strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant, layered with spice and a distinct peppery edge. On the palate, the red fruit carries through with clarity, supported by earthy, rustic tannins and a subtle saline finish that brings freshness and length. There is a nice balance here between charm and grip, and while it is already highly enjoyable, it also has the structure to develop well over the next 10 years.

Viininvalmistus
The Clos de la Fussière vineyard sits in Maranges, in the southern part of the Côte de Beaune, where limestone soils and old vines help shape a wine with both mineral tension and generous fruit. Benjamin Duchemin fully destems the grapes before fermentation, which takes place over two weeks in large wooden vats using only the native yeasts present on the grape skins. The wine is then aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine is a natural match for roasted poultry, duck, mushroom dishes, game birds and earthy vegetarian plates such as lentil or wild mushroom risotto. It also pairs well with grilled salmon or pork tenderloin. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 30 minutes if opening it young to allow the aromas and texture to open up.
