Domaine Duchemin Maranges 1er Cru Le Clos des Rois 2022 is a beautifully poised Burgundy that delivers the finesse and depth Pinot Noir lovers seek, without the price tag of more famous Côte de Beaune villages. Sourced from old vines in one of Maranges’ most prized parcels, this wine combines elegance, precision, and real character from a lesser-known but highly promising appellation in southern Burgundy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a bright, clear ruby-red color. The nose is fresh and inviting, offering aromas of cherry, raspberry, cranberry, forest floor, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine has impressive depth and energy, with vivid red fruit at the core, fine tannins, and a graceful touch of smoke on the long finish. It is already very expressive, yet has the structure to develop further over the next several years if cellared well.

Viininvalmistus
Maranges sits at the southern edge of the Côte de Beaune, where limestone-rich slopes and a cool Burgundy climate help Pinot Noir retain freshness and definition. The Clos des Rois parcel lies at the foot of the golden slope and is planted with vines up to 65 years old. Benjamin Duchemin harvests the grapes and vinifies with full destemming, no added yeast, and fermentation lasting a little over two weeks in large wooden vessels, followed by 14 months of aging in French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This wine pairs well with roast duck, game birds, mushroom dishes, veal, or simply grilled poultry with herbs. Serve at 16-18°C, and consider decanting for around 30 minutes if opening young, to let the aromatics fully unfold and the texture settle.
