Domaine Garon Côte-Rôtie Les Rochins 2021 is a striking Syrah from one of the northern Rhône’s most revered appellations, sourced from a prized parcel on the Côte Brune near the legendary La Turque vineyard. In the glass, Les Rochins shows a deep, saturated ruby color that immediately hints at its concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, offering blackberries, blackcurrants, violets, and a strong mineral edge, with subtle notes of liquorice and olive adding complexity. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with dark fruit, spice, and dark chocolate leading the way, supported by a light earthy character and a fresh mineral backbone. Fine, well-integrated tannins give the wine structure without harshness, while the lively acidity keeps everything focused and balanced. The finish is long, savory, and slightly saline, and the wine should continue to develop beautifully over the next 5-10 years.

Les Rochins comes from a first-class parcel on the Côte Brune, where the steep northern Rhône slopes and iron-rich, mineral-driven soils help produce Syrah with depth, structure, and aromatic precision. The grapes are harvested by hand at optimal ripeness, ensuring careful selection in the vineyard. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 18 months in barriques, adding complexity and polish while preserving the wine’s floral and fruit-driven character.

This is an excellent match for lamb, beef, and game, where the wine’s dark fruit, spice, and savory depth can stand up to rich, flavorful dishes. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for one to two hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.
