Domaine Henri Clerc Puligny-Montrachet Les Champs Gain 1er Cru 2020 is a refined Burgundy Chardonnay from one of the most revered white-wine villages in the world. Sourced from some of the area’s older vines and crafted with precision by winemaker Eric Germain, it combines elegance, depth, and a distinctly mineral Puligny character in a style that feels both classic and vivid.

In the glass, this 1er Cru shows the poised brightness you would expect from top Puligny-Montrachet, with a graceful, luminous appearance. The nose is layered and expressive, unfolding with lemon zest, pear, butter, fresh grass, chalky limestone, and subtle oak spice from the barrel aging. The palate is intensely focused and beautifully balanced, with a rich mineral core that reflects the age of the vines and the limestone-rich soils of Burgundy. There is impressive tension and persistence here, finishing long and precise. With its structure and concentration, this wine should develop well over time, gaining further complexity with bottle age.

Viininvalmistus
Les Champs Gain comes from a prized Premier Cru site in Puligny-Montrachet, where the limestone-driven terroir and mature vines contribute to the wine’s firm mineral backbone and layered intensity. The grapes are hand-harvested and transported quickly in small closed crates to preserve freshness, then vinified and matured in French oak barrels, around one-third of which are new, adding texture and discreet complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Serve this wine with refined dishes such as lobster, scallops, roast chicken with herbs, creamy risotto, or fine white fish with beurre blanc. It is best enjoyed slightly chilled at around 10–12°C, and while decanting is not essential, a short aeration can help open up its aromatics if served young.
