Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Clos de Vougeot 2005

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron’s Clos de Vougeot is a polished, deeply structured expression of Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated grand cru vineyards. It combines power and finesse in equal measure, with a style that leans more toward purity and precision than overt richness. Clos de Vougeot itself carries centuries of history, once cultivated by the monks of Cîteaux and long regarded as a benchmark site in the Côte de Nuits.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a medium red colour. The nose is initially rather closed, but with time it opens to dark berries, plum, mint and a hint of menthol, suggesting both freshness and depth. On the palate, it is sweet-fruited yet firm, with layers of minerals, earth, game and cooling herbal notes. The structure is notable, with firm tannins giving the wine a clear backbone and a spicy, persistent finish. While the acidity comes across as somewhat modest for the vintage, the wine remains powerful without feeling rustic, and should continue to evolve gracefully with age.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine that calls for similarly refined, flavourful dishes such as roast duck, pigeon, venison, lamb with herbs, or mushroom-based dishes. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and classic Burgundian fare. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting for an hour or two is recommended to help the wine reveal its full aromatic complexity.
