Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Clos de Vougeot 2018 is a serious and highly expressive Grand Cru Burgundy, showing the depth, structure and precision that have made this historic vineyard so revered. Made from Pinot Noir in one of the Côte de Nuits’ most celebrated sites, it combines dark fruit, floral lift, mineral tension and firm age-worthy tannins in a style built for the cellar.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a healthy dark ruby-red colour with a concentrated, almost inky core. The nose opens with black cherry, licorice and violets, followed by subtle mineral and spicy nuances that add complexity and finesse.
On the palate, it is tight and minty at first, then gradually becomes more supple, revealing dark cherry fruit, spice and chalky minerality. The tannins are substantial and mouth-coating, giving the wine a backward, reserved feel in its youth. This is clearly a wine with excellent aging potential, likely to gain flesh, harmony and sweetness of fruit with time in bottle.
Viininvalmistus
Clos de Vougeot is one of Burgundy’s most famous Grand Cru vineyards, and Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron works from two parcels in the upper part of the clos, totaling around 0.5 hectares. The vines grow in classic Burgundian limestone soil with pockets of clay, and the domaine farms organically, with an emphasis on lunar cycles and horse ploughing in the vineyard. Harvesting is done with a focus on early picking to preserve freshness and structure, while vinification includes élevage in 100% new French oak and bottling without filtration until the final stage, helping to maintain purity and depth.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Grand Cru Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast duck, beef tenderloin, venison, game birds, mushroom risotto or truffle-based cuisine. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, as the wine benefits from air to soften its structure and reveal more of its aromatic complexity.

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron was founded in 1926 and is based in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, where it has become regarded as one of Burgundy’s top producers. The domaine entered a new era in 1983 when Sophie Meunier took over from her father, later working alongside her husband Alain Meunier, with their son Louis now increasingly involved in winemaking. Known for low yields, early harvesting, organic viticulture and a highly meticulous approach, the estate has earned a strong reputation for producing wines of depth, purity and impressive aging potential.
