Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Chaboeufs 2018 is a refined Burgundy Pinot Noir that combines power, precision, and unmistakable site character. From one of the Côte de Nuits’ most respected domaines, this premier cru stands out for its depth of fruit, discreet floral nuances, and promising structure built for patience.
Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby core with the kind of brightness typical of well-crafted Pinot Noir. The nose is initially reserved, opening with tertiary spice, earthy undertones, and subtle floral lift that becomes more expressive with air.
On the palate, it is medium-bodied and firmly structured, with chewy tannins, vivid acidity, and a mouth-filling texture that gives the wine real presence. The finish is still developing, suggesting there is more complexity to emerge with time in bottle. This is a wine with clear aging potential and should reward cellaring over the coming years.
Viininvalmistus
The Chaboeufs 1er Cru lies in Nuits-Saint-Georges in the southern part of the Côte de Nuits, where limestone-rich soils with pockets of clay help shape wines with both finesse and structure. The vines are around 30 years old, and the domaine farms its holdings organically, working according to the lunar cycle and even ploughing with horse traction in the vineyard. Harvesting is done relatively early to preserve freshness and purity, with low yields of around 28–30 hl/ha. In the cellar, the domaine is known for a disciplined approach, including the use of 100% new French oak and bottling without filtration until the wine is ready.
Ruoka & tarjoilu
This premier cru pairs beautifully with dishes that echo its depth and structure, such as roast duck, grilled venison, beef tenderloin, coq au vin, or mushroom-based dishes with truffle or earthy herbs. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromatics and texture to fully unfold.

Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron was founded in 1926 and has long held a special place in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The domaine entered a new era in 1983 when Sophie Meunier took over from her father, later working alongside her husband Alain Meunier, with their son Louis now increasingly involved in the winemaking. Under this family stewardship, the estate has earned a reputation as one of Burgundy’s top producers, celebrated for its renaissance over recent decades, its commitment to organic viticulture since the 1990s, and its uncompromising pursuit of quality.
