Domaine la Soumade Rasteau Cuvée Fleur de Confiance 2019 Magnum is a powerful and deeply characterful Rhône red, made from old-vine Grenache and Syrah grown on vines reaching up to 100 years of age. With exceptionally low yields and a careful, traditional approach in the cellar, this is a wine that captures just how far Rasteau has come as one of the Southern Rhône’s most exciting appellations.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a very dark, almost impenetrable color that hints at its concentration. The nose is immediately expressive, with blackcurrant, ripe dark plums, black pepper, lavender, violet, and earthy, sun-drenched Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it feels bold, rustic, and vividly expressive, with the aromatic notes carrying through in layers of dark fruit, spice, and dried earth. There is a distinctly old-school charm to its structure and style, but also a precision and depth that make it especially compelling. It should continue to develop beautifully over the next few years, gaining even more nuance and harmony with time.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from very old vines in Rasteau, where the warm southern Rhône climate and sun-baked, herbal landscape help shape the wine’s concentrated and savory profile. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation, with yields kept extremely low at around 25 hectoliters per hectare to preserve intensity and quality. The wine is then aged for 18 months in cement tanks and traditional large foudres of 4,000 liters, a combination that allows purity of fruit, texture, and gentle maturation to come through.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for hearty dishes such as lamb, game, slow-braised beef, grilled meats, or Provençal stews with herbs and garlic. It also works beautifully with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended, especially in its youth, to help the wine open fully and show its depth and complexity.
