Domaine la Soumade Rasteau Cuvée Fleur de Confiance 2019 OWC

Domaine la Soumade Rasteau Cuvée Fleur de Confiance 2019 is a serious, old-vine Grenache-led Rhône red with real depth and class. Drawn from vines that are up to 100 years old and kept at exceptionally low yields, it delivers remarkable concentration, elegance, and complexity, with a touch of Syrah adding structure and spice. Presented here in OWC, it is a wine for collectors and lovers of dense, finely polished southern Rhône reds.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep black-purple color that hints at its power and richness. The nose is layered and expressive, opening with blackberry, blackcurrant, and red currant before moving into notes of leather, licorice, spice, and mint. The palate is full-bodied and seamless, with flavors of blackcurrant, black tea, dark chocolate, and a subtle streak of fresh tobacco on the finish. Despite its concentration, the wine remains silky and composed, with a very long finish and excellent balance. It has strong aging potential and should continue to evolve beautifully for at least another 10 years.

Viininvalmistus
This wine comes from low-yielding vines in Rasteau, where old, gnarled Grenache parcels—some nearly a century old—provide the backbone of the blend. The vineyards are farmed for maximum fruit concentration, with yields held to just 15–18 hectoliters per hectare, ensuring intensity and complexity in the finished wine. After fermentation and pressing, the wine spends 18 months on the lees in 600-liter demi-muids before being lightly filtered and bottled, allowing texture and depth to develop naturally.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best enjoyed with richly flavored dishes such as lamb, game, beef stew, duck confit, or slow-cooked Mediterranean dishes with herbs and olives. It also pairs beautifully with aged hard cheeses and truffle-infused dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine’s aromatics and tannins to fully open.
