Domaine Parigot Pommard 1er Cru Les Epenots 2023 comes from one of the most esteemed Premier Cru sites in Pommard, a vineyard celebrated for combining the appellation’s natural power with a more refined, structured expression. Situated in the northern part of Pommard near the Beaune border, Les Epenots is known for wines with depth, complexity, and impressive aging potential. Domaine Parigot’s increasingly elegant style brings a polished edge to this classic Burgundy site, resulting in a wine that feels both traditionally Pommard and beautifully precise.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep ruby colour, hinting at the concentration within. The nose opens with ripe cherry, blackcurrant, dried rose petals, and a subtle toast from oak, all layered with a distinctly mineral undertone. On the palate, it is dense and multi-dimensional, balancing dark berry fruit with fine-grained tannins and a firm, stony backbone that gives the wine shape and lift. There is plenty of energy here, but also a generous, juicy fruit profile that makes the wine approachable even in its youth. The structure and freshness suggest excellent development over time, and this 2023 vintage has the balance to reward careful cellaring for many years.

Viininvalmistus
Les Epenots benefits from deep clay and limestone soils, which are particularly well suited to Pinot Noir and help give the wine both richness and tension. The 2023 vintage saw a balanced growing season with good ripeness and fresh acidity. The grapes were harvested by hand and carefully sorted before fermentation, which included a proportion of whole clusters and indigenous yeasts. Extraction was kept gentle to preserve finesse and terroir expression, and the wine was then aged for around 14 months in French oak barrels, with only a modest share of new oak to keep the fruit and vineyard character front and centre.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for dishes with depth and savoury character, such as roast duck, game bird, beef tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or braised veal. It will also pair beautifully with truffle-based dishes and aged cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and decant for around 1 hour if drinking young to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
