Domaine Robert Groffier’s Gevrey-Chambertin Les Seuvrées 2015 is a compelling Pinot Noir that brings together the muscle of Gevrey-Chambertin with the finesse and precision for which this domaine is admired. Known for producing beautifully pure, site-driven Burgundies, Groffier’s wines often stand out for their concentration, texture, and quiet complexity, and this 2015 shows exactly that character. In the glass, it shows a healthy dark red hue, hinting at both youth and concentration. The nose opens with black cherry, black raspberry, licorice, crushed rock, and game, with a slightly wild edge that gives the bouquet extra intrigue. On the palate, the wine is rich and juicy, yet shaped by firm acidity that gives the dark fruit a focused, penetrating quality. It is more tannic than the 2016 version, but there is ample fruit to buffer the structure, and the finish is long, saline, and mineral-driven. This is a wine with strong aging potential, and it may reward patience as it moves through a closed phase in bottle before opening up more fully.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Gevrey-Chambertin is a natural match for roast duck, game birds, lamb, beef tenderloin, or mushroom-based dishes such as wild mushroom risotto. It also works beautifully with earthy cheeses like Époisses or aged Comté. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1 to 2 hours if opening young, especially to help the structure and aromatics unfurl.
