Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Vieilles Vignes 2023 is a deeply expressive red from the southern Rhône, crafted from old vines planted in the 1960s and 1970s. With its blend of Grenache and Mourvèdre, it combines ripe power with refinement, showing the kind of depth and authenticity that has made Gigondas one of the region’s most respected appellations.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this wine shows a dark, intense color that hints at its concentration. The nose is generous and layered, with aromas of ripe cherries, blackberries, licorice, dried herbs, warm spices, and the signature garrigue character of the Rhône. On the palate, it is concentrated yet well balanced, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, elegant finish marked by dark fruit and savory spice. It can be enjoyed young with decanting, but it also has the structure and depth to age gracefully for 8–10 years, developing even more complexity over time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from old vines rooted in sandy, stony terraces in Gigondas, a terroir that naturally encourages finesse, complexity, and freshness alongside ripeness. Harvesting is done with care, and the wine is fermented with native yeasts before undergoing an extended maceration to build color, aroma, and structure. It is then aged for around 12 months in large, old oak foudres and bottled without fining or filtration to preserve its purity and sense of place.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for rich, flavorful dishes such as lamb, game, stews, and grilled meats. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best balance of fruit and structure. Decanting is recommended if drinking young, as it will help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic depth.
