Dominus 2016 Magnum is one of Napa Valley’s most celebrated red wines, crafted in Yountville from the historic Napanook Vineyard. Created by Christian Moueix and Tod Mostero, it stands out for its Bordeaux-inspired precision, remarkable elegance, and the depth that has made Dominus an icon since its debut with the 1983 vintage.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, Dominus 2016 shows a deep, concentrated color that hints at its structure and intensity. The nose is layered and refined, with aromas of dark cassis, black cherry, plum, graphite, cedar, and subtle herbal notes, all wrapped in polished oak spice. On the palate, it is powerful yet controlled, with Cabernet Sauvignon bringing backbone, Cabernet Franc adding aromatic lift, and Petit Verdot contributing color and structure. The wine is known for its balance of ripe dark fruit, fine tannins, and a long, composed finish. While already impressive, this is a wine with excellent aging potential and will continue to evolve beautifully over many years in cellar.

Viininvalmistus
Dominus is produced from the historic Napanook Vineyard in Yountville, where warm, dry Napa Valley conditions are balanced by meticulous vineyard work designed to preserve freshness and precision. The fruit is hand-harvested with extraordinary attention to detail, including selective picking by sun exposure, and each cluster is washed before harvest to remove dust. In the cellar, stems are removed, the grapes are sorted both optically and by hand, and fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. After only a few days on the skins, the wine is drawn off to emphasize purity of fruit and avoid overextraction. It then matures for 18 months in French oak barrels, 40% new, before being fined with fresh egg whites and bottled without further treatment.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This magnum is a natural match for richly flavored dishes such as prime rib, roasted lamb, venison, or duck breast with a red wine sauce. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and truffle-based dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and while decanting is not essential for every occasion, it is highly recommended if enjoying the wine young, as it will help open the bouquet and soften the tannins.

Produced in Napa Valley yet shaped by a Bordeaux philosophy, the estate has become a benchmark for elegance, restraint, and terroir expression in California. Since its first vintage in 1983, Dominus has earned a reputation as one of the state’s most iconic and collectible wines.
