Dominus Estate Othello 2019

Dominus Estate Othello 2019 is the more approachable expression from the historic Napanook vineyard, offering a beautifully composed taste of Dominus terroir in a style made to be enjoyed young. Crafted from a classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, it combines depth, elegance, and a refined California character that reflects Christian Moueix’s long-held belief that great wine begins in the vineyard.

In the glass, Othello 2019 shows an intense, bright dark red-black colour that immediately signals concentration and structure. The nose is pure and polished, with layered aromas of cherry, blackcurrant, mocha, and a subtle touch of vanilla. The palate is deep and full-bodied, yet carried by silk-soft tannins and a sense of finesse that keeps the wine lifted and balanced. The finish is expressive and elegant, with enough structure to suggest a few more years of graceful ageing, while still remaining generous and enjoyable now.

Viininvalmistus
Othello is sourced from the historic Napanook vineyard in Napa Valley, where warm, dry conditions and the vineyard’s varied exposure create fruit with both ripeness and freshness. Harvest is carried out by hand, with sun-exposed rows picked several days earlier than those on the shaded side, helping preserve balance and precision. The grapes are then sorted both mechanically and by hand before fermentation, and the wine is matured for 14 months in French oak barrels.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile yet clearly premium red that pairs especially well with roast beef, lamb, grilled ribeye, duck breast, and rich mushroom dishes. It will also work nicely with aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for about 30–60 minutes if drinking it young to allow the aromas and tannins to open fully.

Dominus Estate was founded by Christian Moueix, a Bordeaux native and one of the most respected names in modern winemaking. With deep ties to Château Pétrus and a philosophy rooted in vineyard expression, Moueix brought classical French sensibility to Napa Valley and established Dominus as one of the region’s benchmark estates. Othello was introduced as a more accessible second wine from the Napanook vineyard, extending the estate’s reputation for precision, elegance, and serious craftsmanship.
