Dugat-Py Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 1999

Dugat-Py’s Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 1999 is a beautifully mature Burgundy from one of the most respected names in Gevrey-Chambertin. Sourced from the upper parcels of the vineyard and crafted from old vines on limestone and clay, it combines concentration, finesse, and the unmistakable depth that has made Grand Cru Charmes-Chambertin so prized over time.

Makuprofiili
Now more than 25 years into its evolution, this wine shows a deeply mature and layered profile rather than youthful fruit. Expect a refined ruby-garnet hue, with aromas of dried cherry, forest floor, truffle, and subtle spice unfolding in the glass. On the palate, the fruit has softened into elegant tertiary notes, while the tannins are silky and fully integrated. The acidity remains alive, giving the wine lift and balance, and the finish is long, mineral, and composed. At this stage, it is drinking at an excellent level, with little need for further aging, though well-stored bottles can continue to develop nuance.

Viininvalmistus
The wine comes from the upper parcels of Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru, where Dugat-Py works with old Pinot Noir vines rooted in limestone- and clay-rich soils that naturally encourage both power and precision. The grapes are harvested by hand with strict selection, then fermented in small open vats before aging for around 18 months in new oak barrels, a method that adds structure and complexity while preserving the vineyard’s elegance.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This mature Grand Cru pairs wonderfully with dishes that echo its earthy, savory character, such as roast duck, pigeon, game birds, veal, mushroom risotto, or truffled dishes. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider opening the bottle ahead of time to let the aromas fully open. Decanting is recommended if the bottle shows any reduction or if you want to give the wine a little more room to breathe before serving.
