Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur de Roy 2011

Dugat-Py Gevrey-Chambertin Coeur de Roy 2011 is a finely crafted Pinot Noir from one of Burgundy’s most celebrated villages, sourced from several old parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, many with vines over 80 years old. The wine combines the depth and concentration for which Dugat-Py is known with the more open, elegant character of the 2011 vintage, making it a beautifully balanced expression of old-vine Burgundy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Gevrey-Chambertin shows a mature, polished profile with a deep ruby hue beginning to soften at the rim. The bouquet unfolds with dark cherry, blackberry, dried herbs, forest floor, and a subtle tobacco note, all lifted by a refined earthy minerality. On the palate, the wine is structured yet supple, with fully integrated oak, rounded tannins, and a fresh line of acidity that keeps the finish precise and harmonious. After more than a decade of aging, it now offers a graceful, nuanced expression, though it still has the balance to hold well for further short- to medium-term cellaring.

Viininvalmistus
Coeur de Roy is made from old-vine parcels in Gevrey-Chambertin, where classic limestone and clay soils contribute both power and mineral drive. The grapes are harvested at extremely low yields, fermented in small open vats, and aged for around 18 months in new oak barrels, a regimen that gives the wine its depth, density, and polished structure while preserving the finesse of the 2011 vintage.

This wine pairs beautifully with dishes that echo its earthy, savory character, such as roast duck, game bird, beef tenderloin, mushroom risotto, or slow-cooked lamb. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes if opening now, especially to let its mature aromatics fully emerge.
