DuMOL Chardonnay Chloe 2023

DuMOL Chardonnay Chloe 2023 is a characterful special cuvée from the celebrated Ritchie Vineyard in Russian River Valley, crafted from old vines that lend remarkable depth and intensity. This is a Chardonnay that balances richness with precision, offering layered fruit, creamy texture, and a vivid mineral edge. It reflects both the power of mature California vineyards and the finesse that has made DuMOL a benchmark producer in the region.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a bright, polished golden hue that hints at its concentration and ripeness. The nose opens with yellow peach, nectarine, and honeysuckle, lifted by cooler herbal tones of mint leaf and thyme that add freshness and complexity. On the palate, it is broad and generously textured, with notes of citrus oil, apricot purée, and quince paste unfolding across a dense but energetic frame. The acidity keeps everything in balance, carrying the wine to a precise, mineral finish with a touch of grapefruit zest. While already highly expressive, it also has the structure to develop gracefully over the next several years.

Viininvalmistus
The Chloe bottling comes from old Chardonnay vines at Ritchie Vineyard, a site in Russian River Valley known for its distinctive terroir and strong sense of place. These vines are over 40 years old, contributing natural concentration, texture, and depth to the finished wine. The grapes are harvested with care, then pressed slowly to draw out layered fruit character and dry extract without sacrificing freshness. The wine is then matured for around 12 months in French oak barrels, including a portion of new oak, followed by a resting period in tank before bottling.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with rich but refined dishes such as roast chicken, lobster with butter, seared scallops, creamy pasta, or mushroom risotto. Serve it slightly chilled at around 10–12°C to show its aromatics and texture at their best. Decanting is not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help the wine open up and reveal its full aromatic complexity.
