Dunn Vineyards Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is the signature wine of Randy Dunn, and one of the clearest expressions of classic Napa Valley Cabernet. Built for structure, depth, and remarkable longevity, it stands apart for its uncompromising, terroir-driven style—powerful, yet always restrained. This is a wine that has long represented Howell Mountain at its most serious and age-worthy.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, opaque ruby color, hinting at its concentration and intensity. The nose opens with dark berry fruit, violet, graphite, and subtle mineral notes, layered with a restrained sense of oak and earthy complexity. On the palate, it is tightly wound and firmly structured, with blackcurrant, blackberry, and floral tones framed by vibrant acidity and polished, assertive tannins. A cool, mineral core runs through the wine, leading to a long, stony finish. This is a Cabernet designed for patience and will reward extended cellaring for decades.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes come from Dunn Vineyards’ high-altitude Howell Mountain sites, planted above 500 meters on volcanic soils that naturally deliver low yields, concentrated fruit, and pronounced tannic structure. Cooler mountain temperatures help preserve freshness and acidity, while the rugged terroir lends the wine its distinctive mineral edge. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with extended maceration, followed by roughly two and a half years of maturation in French oak, mostly used barrels, so the fruit remains the focus rather than the wood.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Best served with robust dishes such as grilled ribeye, braised short ribs, venison, or lamb with herbs and garlic. Hard, aged cheeses also make an excellent match. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting for at least 1–2 hours is recommended, especially in its youth, to allow the wine’s structure and aromatics to open fully.
