Dunn Vineyards’ 2018 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful, uncompromising expression of Cabernet from one of California’s most respected mountain producers. Built in the classic Dunn style—structured, restrained, and deeply ageworthy—it reflects the cool, slow ripening of the vintage and the mountain-grown intensity that has made the estate a benchmark for traditional Napa Cabernet.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Cabernet shows a deep, dark color that hints at its concentration and youth. The nose opens with blackberry, cassis, tobacco, pencil lead, and a distinct graphite-driven mineral note, giving the wine a cool, savoury edge alongside its ripe fruit. On the palate, it is dense yet precise, with black fruit framed by firm, polished tannins and a lively line of acidity. Notes of black tea, granite, and mocha carry through the long, cool finish, where the wine feels both powerful and restrained. This is a Cabernet built for patience and should continue to evolve beautifully over 15–30 years, gaining complexity and further integration with time.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit for this wine comes from a range of high-elevation parcels in and around Howell Mountain, sourced from both estate vineyards and purchased grapes. Dunn Vineyards consistently favors low yields and high flavor intensity, with harvest timed to capture full ripeness while preserving freshness in the cooler mountain sites. Vinification follows a classic Napa approach, including a long fermentation and extended aging of up to 32 months in 100% French oak, with only a small portion of new barrels, allowing the structure and terroir to remain at the forefront.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Cabernet pairs naturally with richly flavored dishes such as grilled ribeye, lamb chops, braised short ribs, venison, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C for the best balance of fruit, structure, and aromatics. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended in its youth to open the wine and soften its tannins, especially if served before it has had significant bottle age.
