Esprit de Pavie 2014 is an impressive Bordeaux with serious quality and remarkable value for money. Crafted under the direction of Gérard and Chantal Perse, the wine brings together the depth and polish associated with Château Pavie, offering ripe dark fruit, graphite-like nuance, and a refined structure that makes it both immediately enjoyable and worthy of cellaring.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark ruby color that reflects its concentrated style. The nose is expressive and layered, with aromas of blackberries, forest berries, pencil lead, and a subtle flinty, mineral edge that gives the wine a distinctive Bordeaux character. On the palate, Esprit de Pavie is rich and concentrated, with a supple texture, good weight, and well-integrated tannins that provide balance and length. The blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon gives both generosity and structure, while the finish carries enough freshness and grip to suggest excellent aging potential over several more years in the cellar.

Viininvalmistus
Esprit de Pavie comes from a broad mix of terroirs on the south-facing slopes of the Dordogne Valley, where the vines benefit from good exposure and a terroir suited to producing ripe, structured Bordeaux. The wine is blended from 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the vinification takes place in vats. It is then aged for 15 months in French oak barrels that have previously been used for Château Pavie and Château Monbousquet, adding subtle complexity without overpowering the fruit.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a versatile red that pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled beef, duck breast, mushroom dishes, and hard, aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C for the best balance of fruit and structure. Decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if drinking young, though it can also be enjoyed now without decanting if you prefer a slightly firmer expression.
