Ex-Post Facto Syrah 2019 is a striking expression of cool-climate California Syrah, crafted by acclaimed winemaker Greg Brewer. Built entirely on Syrah from select Santa Barbara County sites, it combines purity, depth, and remarkable aging potential in a style that feels both expressive and precise.

In the glass, this Syrah shows a deep, vivid color that hints at its concentration and structure. The nose is layered and lifted, with ripe red currants, dark cherries, blackcurrant, mint, crushed black pepper, and a floral edge that adds freshness and detail. On the palate, dark cherry, raspberry, and black pepper lead the way, supported by vibrant acidity and a fine balance between richness and freshness. The whole-cluster fermentation lends extra dimension, spice, and texture, while the wine’s structure suggests it will continue to evolve beautifully over time, gaining complexity with age.

Ex-Post Facto focuses exclusively on Syrah from cool areas of Santa Barbara County, where marine influence and moderate temperatures help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. Greg Brewer ferments the wine with 100% whole clusters and allows an unusually long 60-day fermentation, a technique that builds complexity, structure, and nuance while supporting the wine’s long-term aging potential.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Syrah pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roast duck, braised short ribs, game birds, or dishes with black pepper, herbs, and earthy mushroom flavors. Serve it at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if opening young, to allow the wine’s spice and aromatic layers to fully unfold.
