Failla Olivet Vineyard Chardonnay 2020 is a beautifully restrained California Chardonnay that leans into freshness, precision, and elegance rather than heavy oak or excessive ripeness. Sourced from Olivet Ranch in the heart of Russian River Valley, it reflects the cool-climate character of the site and the biodynamic farming behind it, offering a refined style with real personality.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, it shows a light lemon-yellow hue that signals brightness and energy. The nose is graceful and lifted, with aromas of green and yellow apples, pineapple, lemon, elderflower, and white flowers. The palate is crisp and finely balanced, with lemon and elderflower taking center stage alongside a clean, elegant texture. This is not a broad, overtly oaky Chardonnay; instead, it delivers charm and poise with a cool-climate profile and enough structure to age nicely over the next few years, gaining subtle complexity while staying fresh.

Viininvalmistus
The fruit comes from Olivet Ranch in Santa Rosa, ideally positioned in Russian River Valley, where the cool coastal influence helps preserve acidity and aromatic purity. The vineyard is farmed biodynamically, and harvesting is done by hand with careful sorting. Winemaking includes maturation in a mix of French oak barrels and concrete vessels, a choice that adds texture and depth while keeping the wine clean and transparent in style.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
Serve this Chardonnay slightly chilled, ideally around 10–12°C, to best show its freshness and aromatic detail. It pairs wonderfully with roast chicken, grilled fish, shellfish, creamy pasta, and vegetable dishes with herbs or citrus. Decanting is not necessary, though a brief aeration can help if opened very young.

Failla Wines was founded in 1998 by Ehren Jordan and his wife Anne-Marie, and has since become known for highly individual wines shaped by thoughtful farming and a cool-climate approach. Jordan’s background is unusually hands-on and self-taught, built through years of working in wine retail, cellar work, consulting in the Rhône, and later making wines at Turley Wine Cellars. Today, Failla is especially respected for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, with a style that favors finesse, purity, and a distinctly European sensibility in California.
