Failla Platt Vineyard Chardonnay 2021 is a beautifully restrained California Chardonnay that highlights precision over power. Sourced from the cool western hills near Sebastopol, the wine stands out for its purity, balance, and freshness, with subtle oak influence and an elegant, transparent style. It reflects the modern Sonoma Coast approach to Chardonnay: expressive, site-driven, and never weighed down by excess.

Makuprofiili
Pale lemon-yellow in the glass, this Chardonnay opens with a refined aromatic profile of green and yellow apples, pineapple, lemon, elderflower, and white blossoms. The nose is lifted and fresh rather than overtly rich, setting the tone for a wine that feels lively and focused. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied with flavors of lemon, watermelon, and elderflower carried by bright acidity and excellent balance. There is no heavy oak to speak of, only a gentle frame that supports the fruit and mineral clarity. The finish is long and graceful, and while it is already highly enjoyable now, it should also hold well over the next few years if you prefer a little more development.

Platt Vineyard sits in the cool western hills near Sebastopol, close to the Pacific Ocean, where marine influence helps preserve acidity and bring out the vineyard’s natural freshness and precision. The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand, ensuring careful selection of fruit before vinification. Winemaker Ehren Jordan matures the wine in a combination of French oak barrels and cement tank, a method that adds texture and complexity while preserving the wine’s clean, vibrant character.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Chardonnay is an excellent match for grilled or pan-seared fish, roast chicken, shellfish, creamy pasta dishes, and vegetable-based cuisine such as asparagus tart or risotto with herbs. Serve it chilled at around 8–10°C for the best expression of its freshness and aromatic detail. Decanting is not necessary, though a brief splash in the glass can help the wine open up as it warms slightly.
