FEL Pinot Gris Anderson Valley 2021

FEL Pinot Gris Anderson Valley 2021 is a standout example of how expressive Pinot Gris from California can be. Praised by Robert Parker as “the finest pinot gris I have ever tasted from the New World,” it combines concentration and texture with remarkable freshness, thanks to fruit sourced from three distinct Anderson Valley vineyards. The result is a wine that brings together coastal brightness, warmer-climate richness, and real sophistication in one glass.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, this Pinot Gris shows a luminous, inviting pale gold hue. The nose opens with an enticing mix of pineapple, pear, lime, white flowers and honey, layered with a subtle sense of richness that gives the wine depth without heaviness. On the palate, it is both generous and refreshing, with flavors of nectarine, pear, green melon rind, lime, salted almonds and sliced cucumber. There is a distinctly silky, almost oily texture balanced by vibrant acidity, giving the wine lift and energy. The finish feels long, saline and mouthwatering. While delicious now, it should also hold well for a few years, gaining additional complexity with time.

Viininvalmistus
This wine is crafted from Pinot Gris grapes grown in three Anderson Valley vineyards, each contributing a different expression of the region. Wiley and Klindt, located closer to the Pacific Ocean, bring crisp acidity and citrus-driven freshness, while Donnelly Creek, in the warmer and more sheltered end of the valley, adds riper, more tropical notes. The combination of these sites gives the wine its balance of brightness, texture and aromatic complexity. Specific vinification details are not provided.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This Pinot Gris is an excellent match for sushi, sashimi, seafood crudo, grilled prawns, fresh spring dishes and lightly spiced Asian cuisine. It also works beautifully with creamy goat cheese or simply on its own as an elegant aperitif. Serve chilled at around 8-10°C. Decanting is not necessary.
