Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Forman Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 is Ric Forman’s flagship wine and a true Napa Valley classic, made with the kind of precision and restraint that only comes from decades of experience. Dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon and complemented by small amounts of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Malbec, it offers a deeply Bordeaux-inspired expression of California luxury, crafted from fruit grown entirely on Forman Vineyard.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a dense, dark purple core that hints at its concentration and structure. The bouquet is layered and expressive, with aromas of blackcurrant, cassis, sweet tobacco, leather, lavender, sage, and a subtle lift of eucalyptus. On the palate, it is rich and powerful yet composed, with flavors of blueberry, blackberry, truffle, forest floor, and a touch of anise. There is remarkable textural intensity and a serious, statuesque feel to the wine, which should evolve beautifully over the next 20–25 years, developing even more nuance and complexity with time.

Viininvalmistus
The grapes are hand-harvested from Forman Vineyard in California, with sorting beginning within 30 minutes of picking to ensure only the best fruit is used. The wine is aged for 20 months in new French oak deep in Ric Forman’s underground cellars, 10 levels below ground, a cellar environment that supports slow, careful maturation and a polished final result.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is a wine for rich, flavorful dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, wild mushroom dishes, or aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours if drinking young, to allow the wine’s layers and aromatics to fully open.

Ric Forman is one of Napa Valley’s most respected pioneers, with a winemaking career that began in 1966 and included key roles at Robert Mondavi and Newton before founding Forman Vineyard in 1983. Known for his thoughtful, old-school approach and refusal to chase trends, he has earned deep admiration from fellow California winemakers for consistently producing wines of elegance, character, and longevity.
