Gruaud Larose 2015 600CL

Gruaud Larose 2015 is a striking Saint-Julien from one of Bordeaux’s most respected Second Growth estates. Known for its deep structure, impressive finesse and exceptional ageing potential, this vintage combines classic Médoc character with the richness and vibrancy of a highly regarded year. With vines rooted on the southern edge of Saint-Julien and an estate history stretching back to 1725, it carries both pedigree and personality in equal measure.

Makuprofiili
In the glass, the wine shows a medium garnet-purple color, with a polished and vibrant appearance that hints at its youthful energy. The nose is expressive and layered, offering bright red cherries, ripe raspberries and fresh blackcurrants, lifted by subtle notes of cinnamon stick, rose petals, fallen leaves and dried Provençal herbs. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied with tightly packed layers of red and black fruit framed by firm, grainy tannins and a lively sense of freshness. Spicy accents and floral tones add complexity, while the finish is long, perfumed and precise. This is a wine built for the cellar and should continue to gain depth and elegance over the next 4 to 6 years and beyond, with a very long drinking window ahead.

Viininvalmistus
The estate sits on the southern side of Saint-Julien, on well-exposed slopes and plateau soils that are ideally suited to Cabernet-based Bordeaux blends. The vines are old, with an average age of more than 46 years and some parcels over 80 years, contributing concentration and complexity. Since 2019, the château has moved toward organic farming and also uses biodynamic practices, including herbal teas and trace mineral preparations, to support vine health and express the terroir with greater precision.

Ruoka & tarjoilu
This is an excellent match for roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, game birds and mushroom-based dishes, as well as aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C to bring out the wine’s aromatic detail and balance. Decanting for 1 to 2 hours is recommended, especially if opened young, to allow the tannins to soften and the bouquet to fully unfold.
